This episode is a Thanksgiving special about giving thanks to the Lord for all he's done for us and the importance of showing gratitude to God. I pair this with prayer, scripture, and 3 things to implement today.
First I want to say a quick prayer... Lord, I pray that you lift up every single person reading this right now. Please open up our hearts to receive your love. Please open up our eyes and our minds to you. Lord, I can't thank you enough for every single thing that you've done in my life and in the lives of others through this podcast and the different things that you have directed me to do for your will. I'm just so full of gratitude and I am so grateful and thankful for you Lord. I love you with every ounce of my being. In Jesus' name, Amen.
Today is Thanksgiving so first off, I just want to say Happy Thanksgiving! Whether you're traveling to spend time with family or you're staying home, I hope that you have a wonderful day and you stay safe. Also, I just wanted to make sure that we all carve out a little bit of time to give thanks to the Lord. Everything that we have in this world and everything that we're going to have is all given to us by God. We wouldn't even be here if it wasn't for God. He created all of us and he has given us everything that we have. So today I'm not going to give a history lesson on how Thanksgiving started or anything like that, but I just wanted to come on here and make sure that we're spending at least a little bit of our time to give thanks to the Lord. It's important every single day to thank the Lord for everything that he's done for us, but especially today, because it is Thanksgiving. While we're spending time with family, we're being thankful, we're eating yummy food, and all of that, I just wanted to make sure that we don't forget to give thanks to the giver of all good things, and that's God.
Here are a few scriptures:
"Be joyful always; pray continually; give thanks in all circumstances, for this is God's will for you in Christ Jesus."
-1 Thessalonians 5:16-18
"Give thanks to the Lord, for he is good; his love endures forever."
-Psalm 118:1
"I always thank God for you because of his grace given you in Christ Jesus." -1 Corinthians 1:4
"I will praise you, O LORD, with all my heart; I will tell of all your wonders. I will be glad and rejoice in you; I will sing praise to your name, O Most High." -Pslam 9:1-2
So in all of these verses, it's just showing that we should be giving thanks, praying to the Lord, praising Him, and showing gratitude towards Him. God is the giver of all good things and through the grace of Jesus Christ, we have eternal life. It's so important for us to give thanks to the Lord for all he's done for us.
Here are 3 things that I want you to take a little bit of time to do today:
1. Write down and reflect on all the things that God has given you
- Now if you don't want to, you don't necessarily have to write down these things. I'm a pen and paper type of gal so I feel like writing things down is best for me.
- You can put them in the notes on your phone, or you can just think and reflect on all the things that God has given you once you've done that.
2. Give thanks to God for all he's done
- You can do this through prayer, having a conversation with Him, or however you want to do it, but it's important once you reflect on all the things that God has done for you to give thanks to him for those things.
3. Let your joy and gratitude reflect towards others
- So throughout the day while you're spending time with family, you're cooking Thanksgiving dinner, or whatever it is that you're doing today, have an open and thankful heart and let that shine through to others.
- Today is the day that the Lord has made, and whenever we let our light shine through to others and we take that thankfulness and that gratefulness that we have towards God and others are able to see that it'll help make their day.
- You can also thank others for the things that they've done in your life if you want to, or just show your appreciation towards others today, but however you want to do it, just let your joy and gratitude reflect towards others.
I hope you have an amazing Thanksgiving, I hope you're able to spend time with family today, and I really hope that you spend just a few minutes to do these three things today.
I love you guys so much.
