In this episode I go into resting in the presence of Jesus. I pair this with prayer, scripture, and a song. This episode is part 3 of a 4 part series where I go into depth on the four ways to find rest for our souls in Jesus Christ. Last week we went into resting in prayer, and the week before that we went into resting in his word. If you haven't checked out those episodes then definitely go check those out. Today is all about resting in the presence of Jesus Christ.
First I want to say quick prayer... Lord I pray that you lift up every single person reading this right now. I pray that you open up our eyes to see the truth of your words. I pray that you open up our minds and give us knowledge, understanding, and wisdom to be able to implement exactly what it is that you want us to get out of this episode in our daily lives. Lord please help us to discern the truth and to always know that you're right here with us no matter what and we can always find rest in you. I love you with my whole heart. In Jesus' name, Amen.
Resting in his presence is just being still, acknowledging him, fixing our eyes on the Lord, and posturing our heart to him. The Lord is always right here with us and anytime we're feeling tired, exhausted, anxious, worried, or doubtful we can always just sit in the presence of Jesus Christ and know that he's right here with us. He will give us strength, peace, comfort, and all of the things that we need. We just have to fix our eyes on him, posture our heart towards him, give it all to him, and be willing to receive rest for our weary souls from Jesus Christ.
The Lord replied, "My presence will go with you, and I will give you rest." -Exodus 33:14
"The Lord will fight for you; you need only to be still." -Exodus 14:14
"Let us fix our eyes on Jesus, the author and perfecter of our faith, for who the joy set before him endured the cross, scorning its shame, and sat down at the right hand of the throne of God."
-Hebrews 12:2
This is what the sovereign Lord, the Holy One of Israel says: "In repentance and rest is your salvation, in quietness and trust is your strength, but you would have none of it." -Isaiah 30:15
Then, because so many people were coming and going that they did not even have a chance to eat, he said to them, "Come with me by yourselves to a quiet place and get some rest." -Mark 6:31
"I waited patiently for the LORD; he turned to me and heard my cry." -Psalms 40:1
"I wait for the LORD, my soul waits, and in his word I put my hope."
-Psalms 130:5
Whenever we fix our eyes on Jesus, we rest in his presence, we just be still and wait for him, and we just let go of all of our worries, our fears, our doubts, our tiredness, and our exhaustion for a moment, and we just rest in the presence of Jesus we can have hope in knowing that he gives us all that we need. We just have to fix our eyes on him, posture our heart to him, and let him give us rest. When our life gets overwhelming and we're weary, burdened, weak, and we just feel like we can't do it anymore, we can fix our eyes on Jesus and rest in his presence.
There's a song that I listen to a lot and I want to share it with you guys, because it may help you guys with resting in the presence of Jesus. This song is called "Nothing Else" by Cody Carnes. There were weeks where every morning I would play this song and it really helped me to rest in the presence of Jesus. He says in his verses that he's caught up in the presence of Jesus. This song is so calming, and there are spaces in between where all you hear is the instruments and not him singing where it really helps me to rest in Jesus, because I can fix my eyes on him, I can rest in the presence of Jesus, and posture my heart to him with this song. A lot of times whenever I'm feeling tired, weak, or burdened, and my mind is going crazy and it's hard for me to be still, I will put this song on and it helps me to rest in the presence of Jesus. So definitely go check out that song if you haven't already. It's such a great song and it really helps you to fix your eyes on Jesus, to know that he's enough, and we don't need anything else but him.
So take some time each day to just be still and sit in the presence of Jesus, and you will find rest for your soul. If you have been feeling tired, weary, burdened, and you just feel like your life is crumbling down around you, you can rest in the presence of Jesus. You just have to be still, fix your eyes on him, and take some time to do that. Even in our busy lives we can take a few moments to just fix our eyes on Jesus, posture our heart toward him, acknowledge him, and find rest in his presence. He will give us that rest, peace, strength, and everything that we need. We just have to take out that time to rest in his presence.
So I hope this episode helped you guys to know that you can rest in the presence of Jesus, and just by being still, acknowledging him, and fixing our eyes on him he can give us all that we need. We don't have to even say any words, just like in my episode I talked about with resting in prayer, I did mention just fixing our eyes on him and posturing our heart to him. Even whenever we can't muster up any words to say, with us just resting in his presence he will give us all that we need Next week we're going to go into part 4 and that'll be the last part of the series. We will going to go into resting in the teachings of Jesus Christ, so make sure you stay tuned for that.
I love you guys so much.
