In today's episode, we will dive into the devotional for day 7 of my journal Christ Transforms Me. This is a 90-day journal filled with daily devotionals, scripture, prayer, and gratitude. I first published this journal in January of 2022 when God had put it on my heart to create this journal. Throughout a year of praying, reflecting, and letting God and the Holy Spirit give me all the words, scriptures, and everything for this journal, I published it in January 2022. So each day for the next 84 days, I will post an episode on here going over this journal.
Day 7 Scripture:
Jesus replied, "What is impossible with men is possible with God." -Luke 18:27
Day 7 Devotional:
"God is the almighty and He can do all things. There is nothing that He cannot do and nothing that He won't do for us if we follow Him wholeheartedly and walk in the path that He has for us. Just because it's never been done by man doesn't mean God can't do it. Whenever we are feeling hopeless and we feel like there is nothing that we can do to make it better, we have to remind ourselves that God can do all things. He will take care of us and help us through every aspect of our lives. We just have to put our trust in the Lord and give it all to Him."
So there may be something going on in your life right now that you feel is impossible to get through. Or there may be something that you really want that you feel is impossible to get. Whatever the circumstance may be, there may be something right now that feels impossible, but with God all things are possible. What men can't do, God can do. If it's in His will, He will make it happen. So it is so important for us to remind ourselves that God can do all things and to follow Him wholeheartedly. Whatever it is that we are wanting to do that is in alignment with God's will for our lives, He will make it happen. Nothing is impossible for God.
So I want to dive a little deeper into this scripture to get more context on the verses we just read.
18 A certain ruler asked him, “Good teacher, what must I do to inherit eternal life?” 19 “Why do you call me good?” Jesus answered. “No one is good—except God alone. 20 You know the commandments: ‘Do not commit adultery, do not murder, do not steal, do not give false testimony, honor your father and mother.’” 21 “All these I have kept since I was a boy,” he said. 22 When Jesus heard this, he said to him, “You still lack one thing. Sell everything you have and give to the poor, and you will have treasure in heaven. Then come, follow me.” 23 When he heard this, he became very sad, because he was a man of great wealth. 24 Jesus looked at him and said, “How hard it is for the rich to enter the kingdom of God! 25 Indeed, it is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle than for a rich man to enter the kingdom of God.” 26 Those who heard this asked, “Who then can be saved?” 27 Jesus replied, “What is impossible with men is possible with God.” 28 Peter said to him, “We have left all we had to follow you!” 29 “I tell you the truth,” Jesus said to them, “no one who has left home or wife or brothers or parents or children for the sake of the kingdom of God 30 will fail to receive many times as much in this age, and in the age to come, eternal life.”
-Luke 18:18-30
So I wanted us to read these verses to give some context because this is Jesus talking to a certain ruler and the ruler saying " Oh, I haven't committed adultery, stolen, I honor my mother and father" but Jesus is telling him that he is missing one thing. He wanted him to sell all his riches and come and follow him and the ruler was so saddened because he was a man of great wealth, he didn't want to get rid of all of his riches and all of the stuff he worked hard for or just inherited in his life. So when Jesus is saying here "How hard it is for the rich to enter the kingdom of God," it's because they have more love for money and material things than they do for God. But like Jesus says in verse 27, "What's impossible with men is possible with God." So God can and will save them, He can save anyone who believes in Jesus Christ, who confesses with their mouth that Jesus is the LORD, asks Jesus to come into their lives and into their heart and forgive them of their sins and seek to truly change their ways.
It's not possible for a man to enter heaven on his own, but it is possible with God through Jesus Christ. Jesus Christ is the way, the truth, and the life and no one comes to the Father except through Him. So when we believe in Jesus, we can enter the kingdom of heaven. God can do all things and we just have to make sure that we are following the LORD and not conforming to this world, not giving in to the love of money or materialistic things, and when God calls us to give something up, we need to give that up because He can do all things and we cannot. We can trust in the LORD completely and we just have to follow Him and do what He calls us to do.
I do have this journal available for purchase on Amazon if you want to go and grab one:
So if you want to grab one of these journals and go along with me each day with the journal physically in your hands, then go ahead and do that. Otherwise, you can just pull up the notes on your phone, or you can get a notebook, loose-leaf paper, or a binder, however you want to do it. I want you to just take a few minutes and write down things that you are thankful for and then also write down some prayer requests.
Today’s Prayer:
"Lord, I know that with You all things are possible. You are the Almighty and there is nothing that I can't overcome with You by my side. I put all of my trust and hope in You Lord, today and always. In Jesus’ name, Amen."
Today's journal page is a free write:
Write down whatever comes to your mind.
"He determines the number of the stars and calls them each by name. Great is our Lord and mighty in power; his understanding has no limit." -Psalm 147:4-5
So that is it for today's episode. I will be back tomorrow for day eight, so make sure you stay tuned for that.
