In today's episode, we will dive into the devotional for day 9 of my journal Christ Transforms Me. This is a 90-day journal filled with daily devotionals, scripture, prayer, and gratitude. I first published this journal in January of 2022 when God had put it on my heart to create this journal. Throughout a year of praying, reflecting, and letting God and the Holy Spirit give me all the words, scriptures, and everything for this journal, I published it in January 2022. So each day for the next 82 days, I will post an episode on here going over this journal.
Day 9 Scripture:
"When Jesus spoke again to the people, he said, 'I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will never walk in darkness, but will have the light of life.' -John 8:12
Day 9 Devotional:
"In chapter 1 of John, it talks about Jesus being the light of all mankind. In verse 5 it says "The light shines in the darkness, but the darkness has not understood it." In verse 9 it says "The true light that gives light to every man was coming into the world." So here in John 8:12, Jesus is reiterating what was said from chapter 1. Jesus is the light of the world and whoever follows Him and believes in Him will have light and everlasting life in heaven. We, as disciples of Christ, have the light of life and we no longer live in darkness; we no longer live in sin. This doesn't mean that we're not going to sin, but we no longer have the sinful nature; we have the fruit of the Spirit within us."
So Jesus Christ is the light of the world. He is the true light that gives light to every man. Whenever we follow Jesus, we are truly a disciple of Jesus, and if we believe in Him, then we have that light of life. We no longer live in the darkness and no longer have the sinful nature but we have the fruit of the spirit. That doesn't mean we are always going to follow the Holy Spirit, we may give in to our flesh sometimes, or we may follow our sinful desires. That's why it is so important to make sure that we are staying in constant communication with Jesus Christ, constantly seeking God and His righteousness, getting into scripture, studying scripture, journaling, doing everything that we can to pick up our cross daily, and deny ourselves, but Jesus gives us the light of life and He gives us eternal life in heaven with Him and God the Father.
I do have this journal available for purchase on Amazon if you want to go and grab one:
So if you want to grab one of these journals and go along with me each day with the journal physically in your hands, then go ahead and do that. Otherwise, you can just pull up the notes on your phone, or you can get a notebook, loose-leaf paper, or a binder, however you want to do it. I want you to just take a few minutes and write down things that you are thankful for and then also write down some prayer requests.
Today’s Prayer:
"Thank You heavenly Father for sending Your only Son to die on the cross for my sins. Thank You Jesus for being the light of the world, for coming into my heart, and giving me eternal life. It is because of You that I no longer live in darkness but have the light of life. Jesus, it's in Your name that I pray, Amen."
The question for today:
Based on scripture, what does it mean to be a disciple of Christ?
Take some time to journal and write down things that you can do daily to follow Christ
"I have come into the world as a light, so that no one who believes in me should stay in darkness." -John 12:46
So that is it for today's episode. I will be back tomorrow for day ten, so make sure you stay tuned for that.
I love you guys so much.
