How Can Our Hearts Be Purified? Daily Devotionals in "Christ Transforms Me." Day 8 of 90.

In today's episode, we will dive into the devotional for day 8 of my journal Christ Transforms Me. This is a 90-day journal filled with daily devotionals, scripture, prayer, and gratitude. I first published this journal in January of 2022 when God had put it on my heart to create this journal. Throughout a year of praying, reflecting, and letting God and the Holy Spirit give me all the words, scriptures, and everything for this journal, I published it in January 2022. So each day for the next 83 days, I will post an episode on here going over this journal.

Day 8 Scripture:

“Create in me a pure heart, O God, and renew a steadfast spirit within me." -Psalm 51:10

Day 8 Devotional:

"This was a verse from a Psalm of David when the prophet Nathan came to him after he had committed adultery with Bathsheba. Whenever we ask Jesus to come into our hearts and we are saved then we have the Holy Spirit within us, but this doesn't make us exempt from sin. We are all humans, we are sinners, and we are going to make mistakes. Whenever we give in to temptation we have to repent and then ask God to purify our hearts and help us to stand up under temptation. God will always provide a way out for us, we just have to lean on Him."

So I love this scripture so much. God purifies us, He renews us, and He will purify and renew our hearts if we ask Him. He gives us a steadfast Spirit and whenever we fall into temptation, we just have to repent and ask the LORD for forgiveness, to purify us, and seek to truly change our ways. God will always provide a way out for us we just have to lean on Him every step of the way. David was a man after God's own heart and God did a lot of amazing things in David's life, but David made mistakes because he is human, we are all sinners and we all make mistakes.

I really love this whole psalm and if you have time to read all of Psalm 51 I highly recommend you read it, but I want us to read a few other verses here.

"Do not cast me from your presence or take your Holy Spirit from me. Restore to me the joy of your salvation and grant me a willing spirit, to sustain me." -Psalm 51:11-12

So here in these verses, David is full of so much guilt and shame from what he had done and he is pleading to God here. Sometimes whenever we fall into temptation and we give in to our sinful desires and our flesh, it can rob us of our joy and make us feel like God is running away from us. It can make us feel like we no longer have the Holy Spirit, we don't deserve the Holy Spirit, and we no longer have joy of our salvation, because we ruined it for ourselves. But Jesus Christ will forgive us, we just have to make sure that whenever we do fall into temptation we repent, we ask for forgiveness, we seek to truly change our ways, and we follow the LORD with all of our hearts.

I do have this journal available for purchase on Amazon if you want to go and grab one:

To Purchase women's journal click here To Purchase neutral journal click here

So if you want to grab one of these journals and go along with me each day with the journal physically in your hands, then go ahead and do that. Otherwise, you can just pull up the notes on your phone, or you can get a notebook, loose-leaf paper, or a binder, however you want to do it. I want you to just take a few minutes and write down things that you are thankful for and then also write down some prayer requests.

Today’s Prayer:

"Lord, I know that I am a sinner and I am not exempt from sin. Please purify my heart and help me to stand firm in my faith so I can stand up under temptation. Open up my eyes to see the truth of Your words and help me not be deceived by worldly desires. In Jesus’ name, Amen."

The questions for today are:

What has been tempting me lately?

Have I given in to those temptations?

Based on scripture, What should I do when I give in to temptation?

How can I stand firm in my faith and stand up under temptation?

"If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness." -1 John 1:9

So that is it for today's episode. I will be back tomorrow for day nine, so make sure you stay tuned for that.

I love you guys so much.
