The past few weeks I’ve been walking a lot more. I’ve been walking for 30 minutes a day, 5 days a week.
I didn’t even realize all of the benefits of walking until I started doing it. Here are the top 5 benefits of walking.
1. Eases Joint Pain.
Walking can help protect your joints which includes your knees and hips. It helps strengthen and lubricate the muscles that support the joints.
My left knee used to kill me and both knees would creak when I walked up steps or a hill. I’ve noticed since I’ve been walking that my knee is hurting less than it was and they don’t creak anymore when walking up the stairs or uphill.
2. Helps You Burn Calories.
Walking can help you burn calories which can help you lose or maintain weight.
3. Helps Boost Your Energy.
Walking increases the flow of oxygen through the body. It also can energy the levels of hormones that help elevate your energy levels.
After going for a walk (and I get over being hot) I feel great and energized.
4. Boosts Immune System.
Healthline states that “walking may reduce your risk for developing the cold or flu.” They go on to say that one study tracked 1,000 adults using flu season. Those who walked at a moderate pace for 30-45 minutes a day had 43 percent fewer sick days overall.
5. Reduced Risk of Stroke and Heart Disease.
According to healthline, walking at least 30 minutes a day, 5 days a week can reduce your risk for coronary heart disease by 19 percent.
As you can now tell, there are some awesome benefits to walking at least 30 minutes per day for 5 days a week. So get out there and move a little! 😊
